We have all been tempted to buy the cheaper version charge cable, but can it really damage your phone?
The short answer is yes, but only some of them will cause damage. To make sure you don’t run this risk, it is always advised to buy the original Apple cable, or a cable from a trusted source.
If you are unlucky enough to have purchased a “bad” charge cable, you may experience your phone suddenly unable to take a charge. If this has happened to you, you may have a damaged your “tristar U2 IC”.
The Tristar or “U2” is a chip on your motherboard that is responsibly for getting power to the device. If this fails, it can be replaced, but will require micro soldering.
We do this repair at Cell Clinic, but it is to be noted that there is NO warranty on this repair. This is due to the reason for the failure is solely based on the user using a proper cable or not.
